Teaching PhilosophyMy goal in teaching voice lessons is to create a nurturing environment where artistic and technical development can occur for my students. Expression and technical facility must be mutually developed in order for students to realize their full identity as singers. My pedagogy is grounded in scientific principles of acoustics, resonance, and vocal anatomy. In lessons, we will focus on:

Experience
Dr. Carter has a variety of experience as a teacher ranging from higher education to teaching children through community music programs. Their diverse training in musical theatre and classical styles allow them to meet students where they are and address vocal function issues in many genres. Dr. Carter has training in Hatha Yoga, vocal function exercises (speech pathology), vocal anatomy and physiology, vowel resonance imaging, body mapping modalities, and herbal medicine.
